The Under 16 Women’s team travelled to Terrigal on the weekend to participate in the NSW State Cup.

After winning their three pool games they came up against the highly regarded Bathurst Goldminers in the Grand Final. In an extremely entertaining game, with many lead changes and numerous clutch plays, the Canberra girls ran out deservedly winners by two points with the game finishing Bathurst Goldminers 65 – 67 Canberra Capitals Blue.

The highlight of the game (and weekend) was the ability of the team to maintain their great intensity for the whole game. This, together with their great team work, proved decisive in the end with each and every girl contributing to a very successful result. Miki Williams was named MVP.

Congratulations to the team on their success: Sarah Brake, Sarah Cooper, Rebecca Haisman, Gaby Jarvis, Chelsea Johnston, Clare Newton, Alicia Rhodes, Miki Williams, Nikki Worner. Coach Phil Cole, Manager Penny Haisman.

Thank you to Jenni Childs, Under 16 Women’s Team Manager for this great report on the weekend’s result.
