Walking Basketball
Walking Basketball is open to anyone 50+ of any ability/fitness level, and is a fun, low impact way to get active.
So if you are sick of walking around the lake, too tired to climb up a mountain or just want to have some fun indoors while getting active, why not change it up, grab your friends and hit the court with Walking Basketball to start your Thursday mornings.
We even provide a post-session Morning Tea.
Walking Basketball, has been designed as a low impact, social and fun way to improve the levels of physical activity and social interaction of those aged 50 years and older. Through the Move It Aus – Better Ageing grants program Basketball ACT (BACT) are offering the opportunity for suitable participants to be get involved – free of charge. BACT have trained coaches and facilitators and have introduced specific equipment for the program, such as portable standing (one metre high) hoops for scoring, smaller sized basketballs and light-weight team uniforms. Walking Basketball Programs are delivered with suggested rules by BACT, but each program can be amended to cater for participants’ capability and enjoyment, (such as enabling underarm throws or using the standard basketball hoops).
Walking Basketball is open to anyone aged 50 years and over, of any ability and fitness level. Walking basketball is a low impact, social and fun way to improve and increase physical activity levels, get moving and help injury recovery.
Basketball ACT (BACT) is able to offer the Walking Basketball program in two ways, and in partnership with your organisation. Both elements are supported by trained coaches and facilitators, adhere to COVID safety protocols and are adaptable with participants needs in mind. BACT can offer:

Come & Try Sessions are a one-off introductory session, designed to help participants familiarise themselveswith the Walking Basketball Program, and can be delivered at your venue, or held at Belconnen Basketball Stadium.
Basketball ACT can attend fetes, information sessions or similar community events, to provide information to your organisation or members of your community, about Walking Basketball programs and benefits.
Belconnen Basketball Stadium is located at 42 Oatley Court, BELCONNEN. Basketball ACT has four indoor courts, as well as two outdoor courts, at Belconnen, changeroom and shower facilities, wheelchair access, chilled water station, parking and cafe facilities
