The opportunity to mix it with the best on-court at a national level is a great way to showcase your talent and skills, and two of our local athletes will get to do just that at the National Performance Camp in January 2024 at the Centre of Excellence (COE).

Zara Russell and Ajak Nyuon, both local juniors and recent COE scholarship recipients, have been invited to attend the camp at the COE on 22-25 January 2024.

The National Performance Camp will be an intensive 4-day camp led by the Basketball Australia CoE Women’s and Men’s head coaches and is designed to give the young athletes an opportunity to train with and against peers from all around the country.

Peter Lonergan, Director of HP Coach Development is looking forward to giving these young athletes exposure to a high-performance environment.

“The National Performance Camp is a key part of the overall Basketball Australia pathway, the camp has seen numerous Opals and Boomers come through over the past 40 years and we look forward to welcoming the next crop of potential young stars in January,” said Lonergan.

Athletes will engage in a series of on court, recovery and education sessions as they live on-site for the four days.

Joining them at the National Performance Camp, will be coaches, Jarryd Heywood (U18 Boys Territory Head Coach) and Jenny Lonergan (U18 Girls Territory Head Coach). The camp provides an excellent opportunity for identified coaches to continue their development in a high performance environment, as well as contribute to the experience for young athletes.

Congratulations to Zara, Ajak, Jarryd and Jenny.
