Basketball ACT is excited to be partnering with Bruton Basketball Foundation (BBF) in 2023 to deliver the Futures Program.

The Futures Program is a 16-week program, designed to develop the basketball skills within our upcoming stars, while fostering the love of the sport within our players.  The focus of the Futures Program is on Fun & Fundamentals.

The program will be delivered over Term 1 & Term 2 of the 2023 year, with weekly 2 hour training sessions. At the end of the program, an interstate trip, will see the Futures Participants play local/interstate teams, will assist participants get accustomed to the the idea of travelling for sport, team-bonding, and help develop non-basketball activities to extend individual skills and development off-court.

Participants have been invited to attend the Futures Program based on efforts and performances at the U12/U14 trials and level of play in Basketball ACT’s competitions.

The BBF, formed and led by former Canberra Cannons coach, and NBL royalty, Cal Bruton, has a goal of giving back to the basketball community , and guiding the youth to be the best basketballers, and humans, they can be. Cal’s approach to the game, infectious attitude and big game experience will be invaluable to the participants in the Futures Program, and give them the foundation skills they need to improve their game, and approach life with the same zeal as Cal.

Basketball ACT is looking forward to working with Cal and the BBF in 2023, and seeing the results of the Futures Program participants as the 2024 trails season gets underway later in the year.
