Jontee Brown heading to Europe with Australian Rollers
The 12-man Rollers squad will begin their tour at the 2025 Rollstuhlbasketball Nations Cup in Cologne, Germany from 13–17 August, where they will face Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland and a European All-Star team. The team then heads to Varese, Italy for a five-game series against the Italian national team from 19–22 August.
Jontee doubles as BACT’s HP Coach Coordinator, and heads away on his first official tour with the Rollers having been in and around the squad for the past few years.
“Sometimes we don’t recognise how long we continue to improve, and try to win a spot in a team, but this is now really exciting to be a part of it. I’m excited to continue challenging myself and push to fill a role for the team,” he said of his selection.
“It’s always exciting to come into a team and see where you can fit in, and I’ve played enough with a lot of these guys that I’m going away with. For me, it’s just about being exposed to it more and fitting in however and wherever I can.”
Australian Rollers Head Coach Brad Ness said the tour marks an important step in setting up the team for success over the next Paralympic cycle.
“This tour is about building team culture and embedding the principles around What It Takes To Win for this new group,” Ness said.
“We’re looking to set the tone leading into LA 2028 by establishing clear team values and core processes.”
