Basketball ACT is a proud supporter and ambassador for social inclusion through basketball.
Basketball ACT provides competition for intellectually disabled males and females who have the ability and desire to play in a mainstream competition conducted by Basketball ACT.
The men play in the Basketball ACT mainstream men’s competition at the Tuggeranong Indoor Sports Stadium on Monday nights.
Unfortunately Basketball ACT do not have a women’s intellectual disability team at present, however we are taking expressions of interest.
From these competitions the ACT Men’s and Women’s representative teams are chosen each year to compete in the Australian Basketball Championships for Players with an Intellectual Disability (Ivor Burge Championships). These championships are in conjunction with the Australian Under 20 Championships.
Coaches are looking for players who have the desire and ability to represent the ACT, and/or would like to play basketball in any of the available competitions.
More information on these programs can be obtained from Dan Jackson – Head of Competitions and Game Development.
