Canberra Basketball and Basketball ACT took a moment after the Gunners’ thrilling 96-92 win over Bankstown to acknowledge the major milestones achieved by several key figures this season.

Coach Pete Herak spoke to the Southern Cross Basketball Stadium crowd of the importance of club and community, and how his three players each reaching the 100 NBL1 game mark epitomised both.

Glenn Morison, Will Mayfield, and James Toohey have been playing together since they were kids, and when the three of them are on the court at the same time, you can see a sense of calm in the Gunners play.

Talented as they all are individually, the way they understand and feed off each other equals more than the sum of their parts. And all three have shared in so many great moments in Gunners history, including two NBL1 East Championships and last year’s maiden NBL1 National title.

The number of games they’ve played for Canberra and the ACT in all competitions and tournaments is far more than 100 each, but the ability to recognise the three of them reaching 100 NBL1 games – and all within a few weeks of each other – was an opportunity not to be missed.

Of course, they’re not alone. As the only Gunners coach in NBL1 competitions, Pete Herak joins the trio in reaching 100 NBL1 games himself, and if Glenn, Will, and James are backbone of the team on the floor, Pete is the glue that holds it all together.

BACT congratulates Glenn, Will, James, and Pete on 100 NBL1 games played and coached, and looks forward to more shared success and memories created in the coming seasons.
